  • GIM seems appropriate in my clinical work where much of the focus is on mindfulness, centering, grounding, and regulating the body. All of these qualities are present in the GIM method. The literature reflects the artful approach to using the music and musical elements to assist in grounding the clients and giving them the power to initiate change as suggested by the notion of "mindsight".

  • WHAT DOES MUSIC BRING?

It provides a structure for exploring difficult conflict areas of the self, but does not limit the flow or access to a wide variety of other experiences that are important to the person.

It is a non-verbal means of establishing rapport with a client.

    It is a mood changer.

It fosters positive, aesthetic, religious-type experiences that may have life changing properties for the individual.

It provides an encapsulation of time and space..the past, present and future may be experienced concurrently.
